Kold-Draft Ice Machine Code 90: Bin Full
Code 90 means the ice bin is full and the cold bin probe is shutting the ice maker down after the current harvest. This is a normal condition, not a malfunction. If it shows with an empty bin, a technician should check the bin probe, its wiring and the controller board.
Low: a normal bin-full stop; the machine restarts when ice is used.

What does Kold-Draft error code 90 mean?
Code 90 is a normal stop. The ice maker has a bin probe that senses when ice has built up to its level. When the probe is cold because ice is touching it, the controller finishes the current harvest and then stops, showing 90 (LED 90, bin full). The machine restarts on its own once ice is used and the probe warms. The manual lists the cold bin probe as the cause when the bin is full, and says no action is needed. The case to look at is Code 90 with a bin that is not full. Then the manual points to a defective bin probe, its wiring or the controller board. A probe out of position is also a possible reason for it to read cold, though that is a likely cause, not a documented one. The manual's troubleshooting table lists Code 90 for Rev 1.3 boards only.
Affected models and control systems
K4B-equipped Kold-Draft cube makers (GT36x, GT56x, GB56x, GB106x). The troubleshooting table lists Code 90 under Rev 1.3 only.

What you may notice
- LED 90 lit on the controller
- Machine idle with a full bin
- Machine idle with a bin that is only partly full
Possible causes
Listed in Kold-Draft's documentation
- Bin probe cold because the bin is full
- Defective bin probe, wiring or controller if the bin is not full
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code 90 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Ice melt or frost bridging the bin probe tip so it reads cold
- A bin probe bent into the ice stream
Safe checks before calling for service
- Look in the bin to see whether ice is at the probe's level.
- If the bin is full, use some ice and see whether the machine restarts.
- If the bin is not full, check that nothing is touching the probe, without bending it.
- If Code 90 stays with a low bin, tell the technician how much ice was in the bin.
How a technician diagnoses error code 90
- Read the code and check how much ice is in the bin.
- Remove ice from around the probe and see whether the machine restarts.
- Check the bin probe position and wiring.
- Measure the probe signal at the controller.
- Replace the probe or the controller board when the signal stays cold.
- The probe wires lead into the control box.
- Telling a cold probe from a bad signal needs a meter.
- Bending the probe changes where the machine stops.
How error code 90 differs from similar codes
Code 90 is a normal stop condition; codes 10 to 60 report problems.
