Repairs this series usually needs

  1. Grinder hums but does not grind, from a blocked mechanism
  2. Display red or not measuring, from the weighing cell needing calibration
  3. Grind not fine enough from worn discs or fine calibration
  4. Beans bridging above the inlet
  5. Circuit-breaker tripped or motor protector overheated

The E65W GbS is Mahlkönig’s grind-by-weight espresso grinder. It weighs each dose with a weighing cell, so the display and the calibration matter as much as the burrs. When the display shows red or will not measure, the weighing cell usually needs calibration.

The motor is protected by a thermal overcurrent circuit-breaker and a motor protector. If a grinder stops, the manual has the owner cool it and restart it. If it hums without grinding, set the coarsest grind and run it, since a blocked mechanism is a common cause.

Grind that is not fine enough points to worn discs or the fine calibration. We check each, and we say plainly when an older grinder is not worth a larger repair.

FAQMahlkönig E65W GbS Coffee Grinders questions
What if my E65W hums but does not grind?

The owner's manual points to a blocked mechanism. Set the coarsest grind and run the grinder. If it does not clear, call us rather than forcing it.

Why is the display red?

The weighing cell may need calibration, so the grinder cannot measure the dose. We check and calibrate it on site and test the grind weight.

The grinder stopped suddenly. What now?

The circuit-breaker may have tripped or the motor protector overheated. Let it cool, then restart. If it trips again, call us to check the motor and the burrs.
