Koolaire Ice Machine Repair
We repair Koolaire ice machines in Miami, Los Angeles, Houston, New York and San Diego, from current KT series cubers back to older KD, KY and K models. We start with the safety limit lights and the water supply.
Common Koolaire problems we fix
In plain words, the way kitchen and laundry staff describe them when they call.
Service light flashing on the control
Freeze cycle hitting 60 minutes
Water trough not filling
Scale on the water probes
Hot kitchen and dirty condenser
Remote unit not starting
Koolaire Models and Their Lights
The current KT series covers KDT dice and KYT half-dice machines, self-contained or remote, with R410A or R290 depending on the model letters. Older Koolaire cubers, such as the KD0172A, KD0250A, KD0350, KD0420, KD0600, K0400 and KT1000, used R404A and still run in many kitchens. There is also a KDF0150A undercounter with a bin.
The control board uses SL#1 and SL#2 lights. A flashing service light is Safety Limit 1: the freeze time reached 60 minutes. The SL#2 light is Safety Limit 2, three harvest cycles in a row at 3.5 minutes. Both lights flashing together mean water loss, where the trough did not fill within four minutes.
What We Check and What Ages Out
Koolaire allows air temperatures from 35 to 110 degrees F. A condenser packed with grease and dust brings a machine close to that limit, particularly in a hot back kitchen. We check the water supply and filter, the float and probes for scale, the harvest operation and condenser airflow. On remote machines we check the line set and the condensing unit pairing. The ice bridge is factory-set to about one-eighth inch, and we check that too.
Many older Koolaire machines are good candidates for repair, and some are not. We tell you plainly which, give you a written price before the work, and cover our repairs with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Koolaire codes and alarms
What the display or the blinking light means, what is safe to check, and when to stop and call us.
Koolaire lines and model numbers we service
Current and older lines. Find the number on the data plate and open its series for the usual repairs.
What does the flashing light on my Koolaire mean?
A flashing service light is Safety Limit 1, which means the freeze cycle reached 60 minutes. SL#2 means three long harvest cycles in a row, and both flashing means water loss. We test from there.
Can you service an older Koolaire KD model?
Yes. Older KD, KY and K machines are still serviceable, and we confirm the model number and refrigerant before the visit. We say clearly when an old unit is not worth repairing.
Is my Koolaire too hot to work properly?
Koolaire sets the upper air limit at 110 degrees F. Dirty condensers and tight clearances make a hot room worse. We clean the condenser, check airflow and tell you if the room itself needs help.
