MagiKitch'n Griddle Repair
We repair MagiKitch'n gas and electric griddles in Miami, Los Angeles, Houston, New York and San Diego, including MKG gas griddles and MKE electric models. Older griddles are welcome, and we tell you the written price before any work begins.
Common MagiKitch'n problems we fix
In plain words, the way kitchen and laundry staff describe them when they call.
Griddle will not heat
Pilot goes out
Plate heats unevenly
Heat is off the dial setting
Plate smokes too much
Food steams instead of sears
MKG and MKE Griddles
MagiKitch’n griddles are built around a one inch polished plate. The MKG series is gas, in 24 to 72 inch widths, and the MKE series is electric. The model number tells us the control: a plain MKG uses a snap action thermostat, an E at the end is an electric thermostat, and ST is a solid state thermostat.
Pilots, Thermostats and Elements
If you smell gas near the griddle, get out and call the gas utility from outside. Otherwise, a gas griddle that will not heat points us to the pilot on snap action models, then the thermostat. Pilots depend on steady gas pressure, so we check the supply pressure against the data plate, and heavy drafts from the hood can blow a pilot out. Uneven heat sends us to the burners and the plate, and a dial that no longer matches the plate temperature needs thermostat calibration.
On the electric MKE griddles we test the heating elements, the thermostat and the supply. The data plate is on the cabinet wall behind the grease box, and we ask for the model and serial number from there.
Smoke and Steam
Not every complaint is a repair. A plate that smokes may be set too hot, dirty, unseasoned or loaded with too much oil, and food that steams instead of sears may be wet or the heat set too low. We tell you when a call is about technique rather than parts. We repair older griddles too. A written price comes first, and a 30-day workmanship warranty follows the work.
MagiKitch'n lines and model numbers we service
Current and older lines. Find the number on the data plate and open its series for the usual repairs.
What do the E and ST in a MagiKitch'n model mean?
E marks an electric thermostat and ST a solid state thermostat. A model without a suffix has a snap action thermostat. Read the whole number to us.
Why does my MagiKitch'n griddle smoke?
Heat set too high, a dirty or unseasoned plate or too much oil can all cause it. Clean and season the plate first, and call us if it still smokes.
Where is the data plate on a MagiKitch'n griddle?
It is on the cabinet wall behind the grease box. Read us the model and serial number from there and we plan the parts before the visit.
