Doyon Bakery Oven Error Code CAVITY PROBE ERROR: Probe Defective
CAVITY PROBE ERROR means the control found the oven cavity temperature probe defective and switched the oven to Off mode. The manual says to check the cavity probe connection and to replace the cavity probe.

What does Doyon CAVITY PROBE ERROR mean?
The ECM-1 control runs the oven by reading a temperature probe in the baking cavity. It checks the probe signal as it works. When the signal indicates a defective probe, the control cannot regulate heat safely, so it shows CAVITY PROBE ERROR and goes to Off mode, which means heating stops. The manual lists one cause, a defective cavity temperature probe, and two actions: check the cavity probe connection, and replace the cavity probe. The order matters. A loose connection gives the same signal as a failed probe, so the connection is examined before a new probe is ordered. The error comes from the diagnostics section of the manual, which also states the error in its display message list. Because the control stays off until the problem is dealt with, there is no point in trying to bake around it. The probe or its connection needs attention.
Affected models and control systems
Doyon JA10, JAOP10 and JA20 ovens with the ECM-1 programmable control.

What you may notice
- CAVITY PROBE ERROR on the control display
- Oven in Off mode with no heating
- Oven not responding to a new start
Possible causes
Listed in Doyon's documentation
- Defective cavity temperature probe
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind CAVITY PROBE ERROR on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Probe connector loose after cleaning or service
- Probe lead damaged by heat or abrasion in the cavity
- Moisture or grease in the probe connection
- Control input for the probe damaged
Safe checks before calling for service
- Switch the oven off and let it cool.
- Look at the cavity probe and its lead for visible damage or looseness, without removing panels.
- Check that the probe is seated as it should be in the cavity.
- If the error returns when you power up, do not try to bake. Call for service.
- Tell the technician when the error first appeared and what cleaning had been done near the probe.
How a technician diagnoses CAVITY PROBE ERROR
- Read the display and confirm CAVITY PROBE ERROR.
- Inspect the probe connection at the control and at the probe end.
- With power off, measure probe resistance and compare it with its table.
- Check the lead for damage along its length.
- Replace the probe only if it tests bad, then confirm the oven reads cavity temperature.
- Probe wiring ends at a control that is fed with live line voltage behind panels.
- Resistance values must be compared with the right probe table with a meter.
- Probe replacement means access to the oven cavity and calibration.
How CAVITY PROBE ERROR differs from similar codes
FOOD PROBE ERROR is the equivalent message for the food probe. The cavity probe error also puts the control in Off mode.

Can I bake with CAVITY PROBE ERROR?
No. The control goes to Off mode, so the oven does not heat.
Will it clear itself?
The manual does not describe self-clearing. Check the connection and replace the probe if it is defective.
Is CAVITY PROBE ERROR the same as FOOD PROBE ERROR?
No. One is the cavity probe, the other is the food probe.
