What does Milnor error code E7 5 mean?

Besides quarters, a Milnor coin washer-extractor may take dollar coins through a separate input line. At power-up, the controller expects every coin line to be off. If the dollar input is on, it posts E7 followed by 5, with the text “Dollar Count Input Error”.

The manual's entry is a short pointer back to the quarter entry: same as Quarter Count Input Error. That means the same reading applies, that the input was present at power-up, possibly pointing at a coin acceptor malfunction, and that the error clears automatically when the input is gone. The only difference is which line is affected. Where a dollar coin slot is fitted, that line has its own switch and wiring, so a problem on it does not imply a problem on the quarter line. Both can be checked quickly by a technician, since the acceptor holds both mechanisms side by side.

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Check the dollar coin slot for something stuck, without forcing anything.
  2. Switch the machine off and on once and see if the code goes.
  3. Do not feed more dollar coins until the code is gone.
  4. Tell the technician if E7 3 has also appeared.

  1. Read the code and see whether it persists.
  2. Inspect the dollar path in the coin acceptor.
  3. Measure the dollar input at the controller with the acceptor unplugged.

  5. Replace the acceptor or repair wiring accordingly.
! Leave this to a technician
  • Disconnecting and measuring the input happens in the control enclosure.
  • Coin acceptors contain cash-handling mechanisms that should be opened only by the owner or a technician.
