Hobart Commercial Dishwasher Error Code E2: Slow or No Fill
E2 on a Hobart AM15 dishwasher means water did not reach the float during a fill within 2.5 minutes. Press OFF, wait 5 seconds and press ON. Then check debris at the standpipe, the hot water supply valve, the line strainer and the drain O-ring.
Medium: the machine cannot complete its fill until the cause is cleared.

What does Hobart error code E2 mean?
The AM Select machine fills the tank and watches a float to know when the level is right. The control allows 2.5 minutes for the water to reach the float. If it does not, the display shows E2, meaning no fill or a slow fill. The manual lists four causes: debris obstructing the standpipe's movement, the water supply being off, a dirty line strainer, and a worn or torn drain O-ring. The last one is easy to overlook. If the O-ring does not seal, water drains away as fast as it enters, and the float is never reached. The first step the manual gives is a simple reset: press OFF, wait 5 seconds, then press ON. After that the operator can check the standpipe for debris, make sure the hot water valve is open, and clean the line strainer. A torn drain O-ring needs replacing.

- Lift the standpipe and look for debris or food around it.
- Clean the line strainer and look at the drain O-ring; tell us if it is torn.
How a technician diagnoses error code E2
- Run a fill and time how long it takes to reach the float.
- Check supply pressure and clean the line strainer.
- Inspect the standpipe seat and drain O-ring for damage or debris.
- Test the fill valve and the float switch.
- Replace the O-ring, valve or float as the test shows.
- The fill valve and float switch are wired at machine voltage in a wet machine.
- Timing the fill and testing the switch needs the machine opened and monitored.
How error code E2 differs from similar codes
E2 is the fill time-out on the AM15 range; it does not apply to the LXe series, which show FILL ERROR in words.

What should I try first for E2?
Press OFF, wait 5 seconds, press ON, as the manual says, then check the supply valve.
Can a worn drain O-ring cause E2?
Yes. The manual lists it, because water can leak out as it fills.
Why 2.5 minutes?
That is the limit the control allows for water to reach the float.
