FETCO Coffee Brewer Error Code 102: Unwanted Fill
Code 102 on a FETCO XTS brewer means the tank filled when it should not have. The manual says to check inside the machine for leaks. The code does not clear by power cycling; reset it in the programming menu after the repair.
High: water entering unrequested can leak onto the floor or into the cabinet, so the brewer should be isolated.

What does FETCO error code 102 mean?
The brewer controls exactly when water enters the tank: only at start-up and after a brew. Code 102 is the control noticing that the tank has filled when no fill was requested. That is an unwanted fill, and it suggests water is getting in through a path the control did not open. The manual lists one cause, a possible leak in the tank, a fitting or a valve, and the action is to check inside the machine for leaks. A fill valve that does not seal fully would also let water creep in, and that is a likely route for an unwanted fill even though the manual only names a leak in general terms. This is a different problem from 101, which is a slow refill, and from 103, which concerns the liquid level probe. The error also survives a power cycle and stays listed until someone resets it. After the leak has been found and repaired, go to PROGRAMMING, OTHER, ERROR CODES, Display Errors, and Reset Errors. Because the water may reach the cabinet floor, turning off the supply is sensible while the cause is unknown.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to the FETCO CBS-2151XTS, CBS-2152XTS and CBS-2152-2XTS brewers, from the User's Guide for those models. Probe-related level codes are 103 and 107; 102 concerns water entering when it should not.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- 102 appears in the error list
- Water on the floor or inside the cabinet
- The tank seems to keep filling after a brew
- The brewer overflows or drips from the spray head area
Possible causes
Listed in FETCO's documentation
- Possible leak in the tank, a fitting or a valve
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code 102 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A fill valve that no longer seals fully, letting supply pressure push water into the tank
- A weeping fitting on the tank or inlet line
- A cracked or loose hose between the valve and the tank
Safe checks before calling for service
- Switch off the water supply to the brewer and switch the brewer off.
- Look under and around the brewer for water, without opening panels; note where it appears.
- Dry the area and see whether new water appears after an hour with the supply still off.
- Do not rely on power cycling; call a technician and report where you saw water and when it appeared.
How a technician diagnoses error code 102
- Read the error list and confirm 102, not 100 or 101.
- With the supply isolated, check the inlet line, fittings and the tank for leaks.
- Test the fill valve for sealing and check the level probe signal.
- Repair or replace the leaking fitting or valve.
- Reset errors in the menu and run a full cycle while watching for water.
- A leak means water near live parts inside the cabinet
- The source can be a valve, a fitting or the tank, which needs panels off
- Water on the floor is a slip and electrical hazard
How error code 102 differs from similar codes
102 is water arriving unrequested, while 101 is water arriving too slowly; the two point in nearly opposite directions.

Is 102 a leak?
The manual lists a possible leak in the tank, a fitting or a valve, and says to check inside the machine for leaks.
Should I turn off the water?
If you see water, yes. Turning off the supply and the brewer limits damage while a technician finds the source.
Is 102 the same as a fill-too-slowly code?
No. A slow refill is 101. 102 means the tank filled when it should not have.
Need help with FETCO error code 102?
A technician confirms the cause on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
