Fetco Coffee Brewer Error Code 100: Initial Fill Error
Code 100 on a Fetco CBS-2131XTS or CBS-2132XTS means the first fill after power-up took more than 11 minutes. Open the water shutoff valve all the way, check the filter and supply line, then switch the brewer off and on once. If it shows again, call us.
Medium: the brewer cannot finish filling and will not brew until the water path is corrected.

What does FETCO error code 100 mean?
When a Fetco Extractor Touch Screen brewer is powered up, it fills its tank for the first time and the control times that fill. The CBS-2130 series allows up to 11 minutes. If the tank is not filled in that time, the control stops the fill and shows code 100, an initial fill error. The user guide points to water supply flow that is too low. This series allows a longer first fill than the 2150, but the cause is still the water feeding the brewer. A shutoff valve that is not fully open, a water filter that is restricting flow, or a supply line that is kinked or partly blocked are the quick checks an operator can do. Inside the brewer, the inlet valve and its screen control how much water gets in, and the liquid level probe tells the control when the tank is full. A screen clogged with sediment, a valve that opens slowly, or a probe that does not register the water level can each make the fill take too long or never appear to finish. The brewer cannot tell which one it is. The display shows 100.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to Fetco Extractor Touch Screen CBS-2130 series brewers, including the CBS-2131XTS and CBS-2132XTS. Other series, such as the 2150, use a shorter limit, and other controller generations number their codes differently.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Brewer will not finish filling after power-up
- Error code 100 on the display
- Water runs slowly into the tank
- Brewer does not begin heating
Possible causes
Listed in FETCO's documentation
- Water supply valve closed or the line restricted
- Water filter restricting flow
- Inlet valve or its screen blocked
- Liquid level probe not registering full
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code 100 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A supply line that was shut for plumbing work and has air or sediment in it
- A level probe coated with mineral film so it never reports full
Safe checks before calling for service
- Open the water shutoff valve all the way.
- Look at the filter and the supply line for restrictions.
- Switch the brewer off and on once to try the first fill again.
- If code 100 shows again, call us and tell us how long the fill ran and whether water was running into the tank.
How a technician diagnoses error code 100
- Read the code and confirm the fill timer on this series.
- Verify supply pressure and flow at the inlet.
- Inspect the inlet valve and clean its screen.
- Check the valve coil and operation with a meter.
- Test the level probe for correct signal at full and empty.
- Replace the valve or probe only after it fails the test.
- The inlet valve and its screen sit inside the brewer behind the panels, next to mains wiring.
- Measuring fill flow and testing the valve coil takes a meter and a flow check.
- The liquid level probe is tested against the control's signal with the tank empty and full.
How error code 100 differs from similar codes
The 2130 series allows a longer first fill than the 2150, so the same code on a different series may use a different time limit.

Why does the 2130 allow 11 minutes?
The maker sets a longer first-fill limit on this series than on the 2150. The code still means the first fill ran too long because supply flow was too low.
What should I check first?
Start with the shutoff valve and the filter, since both are quick to check. If they look fine, call us and we look at the inlet valve and its screen.
Do you service the older 2130 brewers?
Yes. They are in service in many shops, and we repair them. The price comes in writing before work.
Need help with FETCO error code 100?
A technician confirms the cause on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
