Blakeslee Commercial Dishwasher Error Code B1: Boiler Filling Fail
B1 BOILER FILLING FAIL means the rinse boiler did not fill with water. The manual says to open the water supply valve and check the overflow pipe. If the alarm stays after that, a service technician needs to look at the fill circuit.
High: the rinse boiler cannot be filled, so the machine cannot complete a proper final rinse.

What does Blakeslee error code B1 mean?
The rinse boiler is the small heated tank that supplies hot water for the final rinse. Before it is allowed to heat, the control fills it and waits for the water to reach the correct level. If the level is not reached in the time the control allows, the control stops the fill, flags the problem and shows B1 BOILER FILLING FAIL. Heating a boiler that is not full would damage the element, so the alarm protects the machine as well as telling the operator what happened. The manual describes it simply as a rinse boiler that did not fill, and its only instructions are to open the supply valve and check the overflow pipe. A closed valve, a pipe that has been left out of position or a blocked inlet all look the same to the control: water never arrives at the expected rate.
Affected models and control systems
Blakeslee D-18D / D-18V digital-control hood-type dishwasher. The manual's cover prints D-19 L and D-19 LRS and names no D-18 model, so the alarm list is read as covering this hood-type family.

What you may notice
- B1 BOILER FILLING FAIL on the display
- The rinse boiler does not heat
- The final rinse is weak or cold
- Wash cycles will not start or stop early
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code B1 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Water supply valve to the machine partly or fully closed
- Overflow pipe missing or sitting out of its seat so water runs away
- Inlet strainer clogged with scale or debris
- Fill solenoid valve that does not open when called
Safe checks before calling for service
- Open the water supply valve to the machine fully and make sure the building supply is on.
- Check that the overflow pipe is in its correct place, as the manual instructs.
- Run a short cycle and see whether the alarm returns.
- Do not open any panel and do not run the machine empty once the alarm shows.
- Write down the exact display, what you changed, and whether the inlet hose looks kinked.
How a technician diagnoses error code B1
- Read the alarm history and note whether B1 is alone or paired with other boiler alarms.
- Confirm supply pressure at the machine's inlet and clean the inlet strainer.
- Check that the overflow pipe seats correctly and that nothing drains the boiler during fill.
- Test the fill solenoid for coil resistance and supply voltage while a fill is requested.
- Inspect the boiler level sensing and its wiring, then replace only the part that fails the test.
- The fill solenoid and level circuit are wired at line voltage inside the machine.
- A boiler that cannot hold water may leak onto live wiring, so it should not be run to see what happens.
- Telling a failed valve from a failed level input requires a meter and the machine's wiring diagram.
How error code B1 differs from similar codes
This is the rinse boiler fill alarm. Wash tank filling is reported separately as E1 on the same machine.

Can I keep washing with B1 showing?
No. Without a filled rinse boiler the final rinse cannot be heated, so the dishes will not be sanitized properly. Stop and check the supply valve first.
What does the overflow pipe have to do with it?
The manual names it as a check item. If it is left out of position, water can leave the boiler as fast as it enters.
The valve was open and B1 came back. Now what?
Then the cause is inside the machine, such as a stuck fill valve or a level input, and a technician should take over.
