What does Continental Girbau error code 500 mean?
The control reads the water level from a pressure switch and shows it on the Test Mode display. With an empty basket the reading should be zero. If the reading is abnormal, the control stops and displays 500 (Abnormal level). The manual's single action is exact: verify there is no water in the washer, and verify that the top of the Test Mode display reads zero with an empty basket. The document leaves the cause open and lists only what to check. In practice a nonzero reading with no water means the pressure switch or its tube is giving a wrong value, and a nonzero reading with water means water is really there from a drain or fill problem. The code is a level-circuit check, not a drive alarm, so the drum and motor are not the focus. It is quite different from codes 21 and 22, which relate to over-level and level failure during a cycle.
