Continental Girbau Inteli Washer Error Code 7: DC Bus Over-Voltage
Code 7 means the inverter saw too high a voltage on its DC bus. Restart the washer once. If it returns, a technician should check the supply voltage range, the brake resistor if one is fitted, and the basket and motor movement.
High: the inverter cuts the drive and the washer stops until the cause is found.

What does Continental Girbau error code 7 mean?
The inverter turns incoming AC into a DC bus voltage and builds motor power from it. When the voltage on that bus climbs above its limit, the inverter protects itself and the control shows 7 (Inverter over voltage DC bus). Two things raise the bus: a supply higher than the inverter's range, and a motor that feeds energy back while it is being slowed down. On machines with a brake resistor, that resistor absorbs the returned energy. The manual's checks reflect both: the inverter input voltage range, the brake resistor (40 or 160 ohm if equipped), and any restriction in the basket or motor movement. If all of them are fine, a bad inverter or inductor is suspected. The sheet lists no individual failed parts under this code. Because the alarm often occurs during slowdown, a technician pays close attention to whether it appears at that point.
Affected models and control systems
Continental Girbau E-Series washer-extractors with Inteli control, sheet names RMG055 and smaller and EH060 and larger. Washers with Logi, LogiPro or Vended control use ALn alarms instead.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Code 7 on the display
- Cycle stops during deceleration or after a power surge
- Brake resistor area warm to the touch (if fitted)
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code 7 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Building voltage running high at off-peak times
- Brake resistor with an open winding that no longer absorbs energy
- Loose supply lug giving swings at the inverter input
Safe checks before calling for service
- Press stop; do not touch the door until the drum has stopped.
- Turn the washer off for a minute and restart it.
- Check whether other machines on the same supply have acted up.
- Leave panels closed and note whether the code appeared while the drum slowed down.
How a technician diagnoses error code 7
- Read the code and note when in the cycle it occurs.
- Measure the supply voltage at the inverter and compare it with the allowed range.
- Test the brake resistor value, 40 or 160 ohm, on machines that have one.
- Check for restriction in the basket or motor movement.
- Replace the inverter or inductor only after the other checks pass.
- Brake resistors and the DC bus carry dangerous voltage even after power is off.
- Resistor testing requires isolating the circuit and knowing the right value for the model.
- Supply voltage problems may need the building electrician as well.
How error code 7 differs from similar codes
Code 7 is a DC bus high-voltage alarm. Code 36 is the opposite, an inverter low-voltage alarm.

What is the brake resistor?
On machines that have one, it absorbs energy returned by the motor while the drum slows down.
Could the building supply be the cause?
Yes. The manual starts with the inverter input voltage range.
Will code 7 clear on restart?
It may after a one-time surge. If it recurs, the supply or resistor needs checking.
