What does Henny Penny error code E-70 mean?
The POWER switch on the Computron 1000 control tells the fryer whether it is to be on, and the I/O board carries that signal and many others to the CPU. If the control cannot get a clean signal from the switch circuit, it shows E-70 / PWR SW OR WIRES I/O BOARD FAILED. The display text itself names the possibilities: the power switch, its wires, or the I/O board. The manual lists two causes, a failed POWER switch or wiring and a failed I/O board, and its action is to have the switch and its wiring checked, and the I/O board checked. The switch and wires are the simpler tests, so a technician takes them first. Cooks may find the fryer will not start, shuts down unexpectedly, or shows the message when the switch is moved. Moisture and grease around a switch panel are common in a kitchen and can upset a worn contact.
