Scotsman Ice Machine Error Code 1: Maximum Freeze Time (ELITE)
A steady 1 on a Scotsman Prodigy ELITE or Prodigy Eclipse EH330/EH430 means the maximum freeze time was exceeded and the machine shut down after retrying. Press Off then On to reset it and make sure the water supply is open and the condenser is clear. If the code returns, leave the machine off and call us.

What does Scotsman error code 1 mean?
During the freeze cycle the controller expects ice to form on the evaporator in a set time. When the freeze runs past the maximum allowed, it first treats it as a retry and then, if the problem keeps happening, shuts the machine down and holds a steady 1 on the code display. The controller gave up after retrying, so the machine stays off until someone resets it. Staff find a machine that has stopped making ice, often with a code on the display and a bin that is running low. The reason a freeze takes too long is usually something that limits cooling or water: a restricted water supply or inlet valve, a dirty condenser or failing fan, a poorly fed evaporator from a refrigerant charge or expansion valve issue, scale on the evaporator, or a controller sensor and bin level input reading wrongly. The reset step lets the staff test whether the cause was a one-off, such as a closed water valve, before the service call.
