True Refrigerator Error Code EE: Dixell Memory Error
EE on a True cabinet with a Dixell controller means a data or memory problem. Photograph the display, check that the cabinet is cooling, and switch it off at its power switch for a minute before turning it on again. If EE returns, stop changing settings and call us.
Medium: the cabinet may run on wrong settings, but it usually keeps cooling.

What does True error code EE mean?
The Dixell control keeps its settings, such as set point, defrost timing and alarm limits, in memory. EE is shown when that storage cannot be read or written correctly, as on a T-49-HC. The cabinet may keep cooling on whatever settings it has, or it may behave strangely, with odd defrost times or temperatures that do not match what you set. Settings that did not save after a power interruption can cause it, and so can voltage dips or surges reaching the control. If the memory itself has failed, no amount of resetting from the keypad will hold. A technician checks the supply to the control, then reloads the settings, and replaces the board only if EE comes back. That is why a one-minute power cycle is worth trying once, but repeated keypad changes are not.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- EE on the display
- Set point or defrost times that look wrong
- Settings that will not stay saved
- Cabinet temperature not matching the set value
Possible causes
Listed in True's documentation
- Settings that did not save after a power interruption
- A control board with memory trouble
- Voltage dips or surges reaching the control
- Power supply to the control from the cabinet wiring
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code EE on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A shared circuit that sags when another appliance starts
- A power-off during a settings change that corrupted the stored values
- A board worn by repeated power surges
Safe checks before calling for service
- Photograph whatever the display shows.
- Check that the cabinet is cooling by testing product temperature.
- Switch the cabinet off at its power switch, wait a minute, and switch it on again.
- Should EE come back, stop changing settings.
- Call us to schedule a visit and tell us what you changed last.
How a technician diagnoses error code EE
- Read the code and note any recent power events.
- Measure the supply voltage to the control.
- Check the cabinet wiring feeding the control.
- Compare stored settings with the cabinet's specification and reload them.
- Power cycle the control and watch whether EE returns.
- Replace the board only if EE persists after reloading.
- Measuring supply voltage to the control means live circuit work behind a panel.
- Reloading settings uses the cabinet's own data and must match the model.
- A bad board needs replacement and re-entering the parameters.

Is EE a sensor problem?
No. It is about the control's stored data, not a temperature probe.
Will turning it off and on fix it?
It can clear a one-time glitch. If EE comes back, the settings or board need a technician.
Can I keep running the cabinet?
Usually, but check the temperature, since it may be running on odd settings.
