TurboChef High-Speed Oven Error Code F2: Cook Temperature Low
F2 on a TurboChef oven means the oven is not reaching or holding the set cook temperature. Check the breaker, clean the air nozzles and make sure the door closes, then press the high-limit reset at the bottom left of the rear wall, repeat the warm-up and idle the oven for five minutes, and reduce a frozen load; if F2 stays, call Customer Support.
Medium: the oven runs but cannot hold its cook temperature, so food may be undercooked.
- Code
- F2: Cook Temperature Low (HhC: F2: Low Temp During Cook; C3: LOW COOK TEMP / F2 LOW TEMP)
- Maker
- TurboChef
- Equipment
- High-speed ovens
- Applies to
- I3 / i5; High h Batch (HhB); C3 series (convection microwave); HhC 1618 / 2020 / 2620 conveyors; Bullet (ENC-9600); Sota i1 (I1-9500); ECO (9500), HhS single batch (HHS-9500-801) and PLEXOR M2
What does TurboChef F2: Cook Temperature Low mean?
The control compares the oven's cook temperature with the set value and expects it to stay close. When the oven cannot reach the setting or falls away from it, the control shows a low-temperature message. It appears as F2 LOW TEMP or LOW COOK TEMP on the C3, and as F2: Low Temp During Cook on the HhC conveyors. The C3 service manual defines it as more than 84 F (46 C) away from the cook chamber setpoint. The manual lists many causes, and most of them are about air and heat reaching the food: clogged top and bottom air nozzles, a door that is out of alignment so heat escapes, an oven that has not fully warmed up, or an excessive load. Power matters too, since an interrupted supply or low supply voltage on the HhC leaves the heater short of power. A defective heater or a blower motor that is not running are the causes that need a technician.
Affected models and control systems
TurboChef i3 and i5 ovens, High h Batch 2, the C3 series and the HhC conveyors. Other TurboChef models are not covered by the manuals we read, so they are not listed.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- F2, F2 LOW TEMP or LOW COOK TEMP on the display
- Food undercooked or cooking slowly
- Oven slow to warm up
- Door not sitting flat against the cavity
Possible causes
Listed in TurboChef's documentation
- Oven power interrupted
- Clogged top or bottom air nozzles
- Door out of alignment
- Heater defective
- Blower motor not running
- Oven not fully warmed up
- Excessive load, oven not clean, or low supply voltage (HhC conveyors)
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind F2: Cook Temperature Low on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Grease film on the nozzle holes narrowing the airflow
- Door gasket worn so heat leaks
- Heater element weak in one section
- High-limit thermostat tripped after an earlier overheating
Safe checks before calling for service
- Check the wall circuit breaker for the oven.
- Clean the top and bottom air nozzles as described in the cleaning section, and make sure the door closes fully.
- Press the high-limit reset at the bottom left of the rear wall.
- Repeat the warm-up and let the oven idle for five minutes, and reduce a frozen load.
- If F2 stays, call Customer Support and note the load you were cooking.
How a technician diagnoses F2: Cook Temperature Low
- Read F2 and the history, and check the supply voltage under load.
- Check that the blower runs and the air nozzles are clean.
- Check the door alignment and the door switches.
- Compare the cavity temperature with a thermometer.
- Measure the heater current and its element.
- Replace the heater or fix the airflow problem that the checks show.
- The heater, blower and high-limit circuit all run at line voltage.
- Measuring heater current means the oven open and powered.
- Where a high-limit has tripped, a technician has to find why the oven overheated before it is reset again.
How F2: Cook Temperature Low differs from similar codes
C3 ovens show the message as LOW COOK TEMP or F2 LOW TEMP, while HhC conveyors show F2: Low Temp During Cook and add load, cleanliness and supply voltage as causes.

Is F2 always a bad heater?
No. The manual lists many causes, and nozzles, door fit, warm-up and power are checked first.
Does a frozen load matter?
The manual says to reduce a frozen load, so too large or too cold a load can pull the temperature down.
What does the C3 service manual mean by low?
It defines F2 as more than 84 F (46 C) away from the cook chamber setpoint.
