Wilbur Curtis G4 Brewer Message: Water Level Error
Water Level Error means brewing has stopped because of a fill run error or overflow, with the water inlet valve open too long. Check flow and pressure, the inlet valve and tubing, and the water probe wire, then cycle power with the rear toggle switch to clear it.
High: brewing stops until the fill problem is fixed.

What does Wilbur Curtis Water Level Error mean?
The control keeps the heating tank full by opening the inlet valve and watching a water probe. It limits how long the valve may stay open, both for the initial tank fill and for normal refills. If the valve is open too long, the control assumes either that the water is not arriving or that the tank is overflowing, and shows Water Level Error. The manual calls it an error, and brewing stops. Its actions are to check flow rate and pressure against specifications, check the inlet valve and tubing for a blockage, check the water probe wire for an open or corroded connection, and cycle power with the rear toggle switch, off and then on, to clear it. If power is present at the valve and no water flows, the inlet valve or the UPM is replaced. The time limits in the manual table did not come through in the text we could read, so we do not quote them.
Affected models and control systems
Wilbur Curtis G4 ThermoPro 1.5 gallon brewers, models G4TP2T (twin) and G4TP2S (single). The error applies to the initial tank fill and to normal refills.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Water Level Error on the display
- Brewing stops
- Tank may not fill, or may overflow
- Message returns after the rear switch is cycled
Possible causes
Listed in Wilbur Curtis's documentation
- Inlet valve solenoid on too long during initial fill or refill
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind Water Level Error on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Supply pressure too low to fill the tank in time
- Water probe corroded so the control never sees the level
- Inlet valve clogged with scale
- Water probe wire open at its connection
Safe checks before calling for service
- Check that the water supply valve to the brewer is open.
- Switch the rear toggle switch off briefly and then on.
- Try one brew.
- If the error returns, note whether water was running and call us.
How a technician diagnoses Water Level Error
- Read the display and confirm Water Level Error.
- Check flow rate and pressure against specifications.
- Check the inlet valve and tubing for blockage.
- Check the water probe wire for an open or corroded connection.
- Replace the inlet valve or the UPM if power is present at the valve without flow.
- The inlet valve and UPM carry line voltage.
- Measuring flow and pressure needs gauges.
- Telling a bad valve from a bad UPM needs a meter.
How Water Level Error differs from similar codes
Water Level Error stops the brew; Low Water Flow Warning is the earlier warning.
