Repairs this series usually needs
- Filtr alarm from a dirty filter or poor airflow
- Err over temperature alarm that protects the compressor
- Four minute compressor start delay on MG models after switching to freeze
- Product too soft or too hard from the defrost timer or setting
The Crathco G and MG series are visual granita machines with two or three bowls. The G models use an electronic touchpad with an LED readout, and the MG models use rocker switches and a defrost timer. The prefix on the model tells us which control we are dealing with.
On the G machines, Filtr is the cleaning alarm for the filter, with a beep every few seconds. If it is ignored, the machine reaches Err, the over temperature alarm, which stops the compressor while the augers keep turning. On the MG machines, a short compressor delay after switching to freeze is normal.
Owners clean the filter and keep the machine away from heat. We handle the refrigeration. Tell us the full model, such as G23-2B or MG235-2B, and the wording on the display.

What does Filtr mean on a G Series?
The unit is running hot from too little airflow. Clean and reinstall the filter, give the machine space and keep it away from heat.
What does Err mean?
It is the over temperature alarm. The compressor stops to protect itself, the augers keep turning and a buzzer sounds. Turn off the switches, clear the cause and call us if it repeats.
Why will an MG machine not start cooling right away?
MG models have a compressor start delay of about four minutes after you switch to freeze. Wait for it. If cooling never starts, call us.
