Repairs this series usually needs

  1. Rinse below the required temperature
  2. Tripped high limit with no heat
  3. Scaled elements
  4. Low-water cut-off tripping
  5. T and P relief valve dripping

The Compact C-Series are Hatco’s smaller electric booster water heaters, with a 6 gallon Castone tank. They mount on slide brackets or sit on 6 inch legs, and they come in sizes from the C-4 up to the C-58. The data plate shows the model, and the model tells us the kilowatts.

A C-Series has an immersion thermostat, a high limit and low-water cut-off probes. When the rinse is cool, we check the thermostat setting, the elements, the contactor and the limit. A low-water condition trips the cut-off, so the water supply to the heater gets a look too. Hard water scales elements, and the maker says water over 3.0 grains per gallon must be softened.

Switch the heater off at the breaker before anyone looks at it. We put the cost in writing before we begin.

FAQHatco Compact C-Series Electric Booster Water Heaters questions
What is the difference between a C-Series and an S-Series?

The C-Series has a 6 gallon tank and the S-Series has a 16 gallon tank. The data plate shows which one you have, and we use the model to confirm parts.

Why does my heater lose heat?

A tripped high limit, a failed contactor or scaled elements are common. Cut power at the breaker before anyone looks, then call us. We test each part.

Are older C-Series boosters worth repairing?

Often yes. The parts are simple, and many are still working. The cost comes first, and we are honest if a repair is not worth it.
