Hatco Booster Heater Repair

Common Hatco problems we fix
In plain words, the way kitchen and laundry staff describe them when they call.
Rinse below 180 degrees F
No heat from the booster
High limit tripped
Relief valve dripping
Scale on the elements
Booster too small for the dish machine
Hatco Booster Families
Hatco builds boosters for dish machines in several families, and we repair current and older ones. The S-Series has a 16 gallon Castone-lined tank in models from the S-6 to the S-57, and its thermostat can be lowered to 140 degrees F for low-temperature dish machines. The Compact C-Series has a 6 gallon tank, from the C-4 to the C-58, and the Mini-Compact MC-Series has a 3.2 gallon stainless tank. The PowerMite PMG-60, PMG-100 and PMG-200 are gas boosters.
Each heater has an immersion thermostat, a high-temperature limit switch, low-water cut-off probes that prevent element burnout, and a temperature and pressure relief valve. They have an indicator light and an on-off switch, and no display codes. Hatco requires water over 3.0 grains per gallon to be softened, and liming and sediment damage is not covered by its warranty. That makes scale the most common problem we find, especially in the hard-water areas of Los Angeles, San Diego and Houston.
What We Look At
When the rinse reads under 180 degrees F, we check the thermostat setting, the elements for scale, and whether the high limit has tripped. No heat leads us to the contactor and fuses. A dripping relief valve points to pressure rise. Sometimes the booster is just too small for the dish machine, and we tell you so.
The price goes in writing first, and our work carries a 30-day warranty.

Hatco lines and model numbers we service
Current and older lines. Find the number on the data plate and open its series for the usual repairs.

A tripped high limit, a failed contactor or fuse, or scaled elements are the usual causes. Do not open the heater yourself, because it carries high voltage. Call us and we test each part in order.
Why is my Hatco relief valve dripping?
A relief valve drips when pressure builds in the tank, often from a heater that is overheating or a thermal expansion problem. Call us rather than plugging the valve, and we find the cause.
How does water hardness affect my Hatco booster?
Water over 3.0 grains per gallon should be softened, because scale damages the elements and coats the tank. Liming is not covered by the maker's warranty. If your booster is scaled, call us.
