Repairs this series usually needs
- Fogging or sweating glass doors
- Door heater or light problems
- Probe codes such as E1 and E3 on an LAE control
- High temperature alarm in a busy store
- Condenser dust in retail aisles
The GDM is True’s glass door merchandiser, used for drinks, dairy and grab-and-go food in front of house. The data plate lists a number such as G4SM-23-HC, and the family has 79 numbers. Newer cabinets use an LAE control, and the codes are different from other True controls.
Merchandisers sit in view of customers, so lights, glass and doors matter as much as temperature. Glass that fogs often points to a failed door heater or a gasket that leaks warm air. We check those first. Next we check the control, the condenser and the fans, since a merchandiser with a hot condenser works hard and cannot keep product cold.
Tell us the full plate number when you call and we confirm lights and heaters as well. Merchandisers face customers all day, so we also wipe up and report any lights or heaters that look near the end of their life.

Usually the door heater is not working or the gasket is leaking warm air. We test the heater and the seal, and fix whichever is the cause.
What does E3 mean on my GDM?
On an LAE control, E3 is the T3 probe. The cabinet usually keeps cooling, but we test the probe and its wiring. We also look at the display lights.
Do you repair the lights?
Yes. Light strips and ballasts are part of the visit when needed, and we price them in writing before we start. Yes. We replace light strips and ballasts when needed, and we price the parts in writing before we start the work.
