Dexter Washer Error Code F19: Drive Low Voltage
F19 means the drive is getting low voltage. A technician should read the drive light code, check the wiring and measure the incoming line voltage. Power must stay off for 3 minutes for the drive to reset.
High: the drive stops on low voltage, and the washer cannot run until the supply is right.
What does Dexter error code F19 mean?
The drive will not run if its supply is below its rated range. It watches the voltage on its internal bus, and if the voltage falls too low it stops and the control shows F19, which the Common Washer guide labels DRIVE LV. The manual lists the actions in order. Check the VFD light code first. Then power off, check the wiring to the drive and the motor, power back on and test, and measure the incoming line voltage. The drive needs the power to stay off for 3 minutes to reset. The causes it lists are a low incoming line voltage and loose connections. Low voltage can come from the building feed, from a long run of undersized wire or from a loose lug that heats up and drops voltage under load, which is why it often appears only when the motor starts.
Affected models and control systems
Dexter T-450 SWD Express stack washer-dryers, serial 481983 and up. The same F10 to F21 table appears in the WCAD-Series vended washers manual (8533-073-001, 11/11). Older Dexter washers number their drive codes differently.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- F19 on the display
- Alarm as the cylinder starts to turn
- Lights dim in the laundry when the washer starts
Possible causes
Listed in Dexter's documentation
- Low incoming line voltage
- Loose connections
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code F19 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Large equipment starting on the same feed
- Undersized supply wire for the run length
- Burned contact in the disconnect
Safe checks before calling for service
- Switch the washer off and wait 3 minutes, as the manual says.
- Restart and note whether F19 appears as the cylinder starts.
- Check whether other machines on the feed show trouble.
- Tell the technician whether the lights dim.
How a technician diagnoses error code F19
- Read the VFD light code before power off.
- Measure the incoming line voltage at rest and under load.
- Check the wiring to the drive and the motor for loose connections.
- Inspect the disconnect and the supply lugs.
- Wait 3 minutes with power off before a retest.
- Measuring line voltage is work on live circuits.
- Loose supply lugs run hot and can start a fire.
- Feed problems may need the building electrician.
How error code F19 differs from similar codes
F19 is low voltage. F15 is over-voltage inside the drive.

Why wait 3 minutes?
The manual says the power must stay off 3 minutes for the drive to reset.
Is the washer or the building to blame?
It can be either, so the line voltage is measured first.
Will it come back?
If the supply stays weak, yes.
