Repairs this series usually needs
- Walk-in warm from a dirty condenser or hot ambient
- Evaporator ice and defrost problems
- Sensor display SF with OP or SH
- Program failure EE
- High pressure cut-out cycling
The Polar-Pak drop-in system sits on top of a Kolpak walk-in and cools the box without field-run lines. Models are written as PC and PFE with a size number, for example PCA050BT2, PCE075BT3 and PFE150BT3. They use R-454C refrigerant, and the maker asks that ambient air stay under 110F so the condenser can shed heat.
A421 is the electronic control. It shows SF with OP or SH when the sensor reads open or shorted, and EE for a program failure. We check airflow, the control, the sensor and the defrost, then the refrigeration side.
Older drop-in systems are fair game for us, and the quote is put in writing before work begins.
About this series
- Top-mount condensing and evaporator systems for walk-ins
- Run on R-454C refrigerant
- A421 electronic temperature control
- Ambient should stay under 110F for good condensing

PC and PFE are the system families, and the rest of the number gives the size and version. Read us the full number from the system label and we match it to the charge and parts.
Why does ambient heat matter?
The maker asks that ambient stay under 110F for acceptable condensing temperatures. In hot weather the system works harder, so keep the condenser clean and clear.
Do you repair older Kolpak systems?
Yes. Older Polar-Pak units and other Kolpak systems are work we take on. A written estimate comes first, and a system not worth the money gets an honest answer.
