Repairs this series usually needs
- F2 over temperature from an element contactor that stays closed
- F3 or F4 probe codes
- F1, F5, F6 or F8 temperature controller codes
- Elements not heating
- F7 program over 24 hours on programmable models
The electric SilverStar and Marathoner Gold ovens use prefixes such as SLEB, SLES, EB and ES, followed by a size and a control suffix, for example EB/10PC or SLES/20CCH. The suffix tells us the control type, and the F codes apply to programmable and rack-timer versions. We confirm the full number before any visit so the right parts are with us.
For an F2 over-temperature code on an electric oven we check whether the element contactor is stuck closed, then the temperature controller. F3 and F4 send us to the probe and its wiring. The other F codes point to the temperature controller. We test before we order parts.
The job is priced in writing before we begin, and 30 days of workmanship coverage follow it.

Why does the electric oven show F2?
The interior went above its maximum temperature. On an electric oven we check whether the element contactor is stuck closed, and then the temperature controller. Turn the oven off and let it cool.
How do I find my oven's control type?
Read the model number on the data plate. The part after the slash ends in PC, RT, SC or CCH, and that tells us which control your oven has.
Is it worth repairing an older electric Southbend?
Often yes, since the oven body lasts for years. The figure is on paper first, and an oven too old to justify repair will be called out as such.
