The Convotherm 4, written C4, is the current Convotherm combi oven. It comes as a table-top oven in sizes 6.10 to 10.20 and as a floor-standing oven in 12.20, 20.10 and 20.20. Model letters show the type: EB is electric with a boiler, ES is electric with a sprayer, and GB or GS are gas.
You find C4 on the model line, followed by eT or eD for the easyTouch or easyDial control and the size. If the oven reports an error that the manual lists for emergency mode, it can keep cooking with limits, so many kitchens run on for a while before they call. We check the water supply and the cartridge first, then the boiler pump and the dispensing pumps.
Installation limits matter in a hot kitchen: the manual gives an ambient range of 40 F to 95 F.

What does emergency mode on a Convotherm 4 mean?
Some errors leave the oven able to cook with limits, for example hot air only or no cleaning. The oven tells you with a sound. Cook what you must and call us, since results get uneven.
Do I have an EB, ES, GB or GS model?
The letters after the size give the type. EB and ES are electric, GB and GS are gas. If the label is hard to read, we confirm on the visit.
How often should the water treatment cartridge be changed?
When the oven asks for it with its filter message. Hard water shortens the interval, so changing the cartridge promptly protects the boiler and the steam parts from scale.
