What does Kold-Draft error code 30 mean?
A freeze cycle that never finishes means the machine is not removing heat fast enough. The K4B controller times each freeze. On Rev 1.1 and 1.2, a freeze over 60 minutes shuts the machine down; on Rev 1.3 to 1.6, it is 45 minutes three times in a row. On Rev 1.63 and higher, the LED flashes after three consecutive cycles over 35 minutes but the machine keeps running. The display is 30 (freeze cycle too long, LED 30). The manual's eight causes include too little air or liquid flow through the condenser, a low-level probe that is shorted or touching the glass tube, an inoperative water pump, a refrigeration problem, a bad contactor, an inlet water valve stuck open, a controller that is not shutting off the water valve, and a hot gas valve stuck partly open. The technician starts with condenser airflow, since a dirty condenser is the easiest to confirm. Reset the controller to clear the code.
