What does Scotsman error code 3 mean?
A flake or nugget machine makes ice by freezing a thin film of water on the barrel wall while the auger turns. Without water in the reservoir, it would be turning against dry metal and freezing nothing, so the controller shuts it down and shows code 3. Staff find a stopped machine with a code on the display, and often the cause is as simple as a closed supply valve or a building water interruption. The machine does not run dry, which protects the auger and the evaporator. The manual lists the water supply valve and filter, inlet water valve operation, water pressure, reservoir level sensing, and supply line kinks. When the water returns, a reset restarts the machine. If the code comes back with water clearly present, the inlet valve may not be opening or the level sensing may misread the reservoir, which is a job for a technician with a meter.
