Globe’s planetary line starts with the SP05 and SP08 and reaches the SP25 on the bench, then continues from the SP30 through the SP40 and SP60 to the SP80PL on the floor. Models such as the SP30P and the SP62P carry power bowl lift, while others use a manual lift. The GSM130 and GSM175 are 130 and 175 pound spiral dough mixers.
These mixers have no display, so every problem comes down to a physical check. If the mixer will not start, we test the bowl guard and the bowl-position interlock first, then the timer or switch and the contactor. A motor that hums or kicks the overload with a big batch of dough sends us to the load, the motor and the gear train.
Oil seeping from the transmission, a grinding gear sound, or a bowl lift that binds all point to wear that grows over years of daily use. In a bakery or restaurant kitchen with flour dust and steam, switches and lift parts collect residue that makes them stick, so cleaning is often part of the fix. On an older Globe, we say plainly when the cost of a gearbox repair is more than the mixer is worth.
