Jackson Dishwasher Error Code F8: No Water in Wash Tank, Check Door
F8 on a Jackson DishStar HT-E means the wash tank is not filling, which can be caused by an open door or a fill part. Close the door and make sure it latches. If F8 stays, the fill solenoid, fill relay or door switch needs a technician.
Medium: the machine will not fill, but a closed door often resolves it.

What does Jackson error code F8 mean?
This machine will not fill its wash tank with the door open. F8 is reported when the wash tank does not fill, and the control shows "F8 No water in wash tank" with the line "Check inlet water and door". The manual lists three causes: a fill solenoid or fill relay that is malfunctioning, a door that is open and inhibiting fill mode, or a door switch that has failed. Its actions are to replace the failed solenoid or fill relay, close the door to activate the door switch, and replace or adjust the door switch. F8 reads almost like F3, and the display text is word for word the same. The manual lists both, and the only difference in the wording of the action is that F8 names the solenoid and the fill relay while F3 says to replace the failed part. We cannot tell from the manual why the table carries both codes, and we do not guess.

What you may notice
- Display reads F8 No water in wash tank, Check inlet water and door
- No water entering the tank
- The cycle waits and does not advance
Possible causes
Listed in Jackson's documentation
- Fill solenoid or fill relay malfunctioning
- Door open, which inhibits fill mode
- Door switch failed
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code F8 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A door that does not seat fully because of a worn gasket or a rack sticking out
- A solenoid coil that has weakened and buzzes but does not open
- A supply line kinked behind the machine after it was moved
Safe checks before calling for service
- Open the door and shut it again with a firm push until it latches.
- Check that nothing sticks out of the machine to hold the door off its seat.
- Check that the water supply valve is open.
- If F8 stays, note whether the fill valve made any sound at all after you closed the door.
How a technician diagnoses error code F8
- Confirm F8 and verify the door closes onto the door switch.
- With the door closed, check whether the fill solenoid receives voltage from the fill relay.
- Replace the solenoid or the fill relay, whichever tests wrong.
- Test the door switch with a meter as the door opens and closes; replace or adjust it if needed.
- Run a complete fill and confirm the tank reaches level and F8 clears.
- The solenoid and relay checks need live control voltage with the panel open.
- The door switch is mounted in the frame, and adjusting it correctly takes disassembly.
- Water leaks near electrical parts are a hazard, so repairs are made with the supply isolated.
How error code F8 differs from similar codes
F8 uses the same screen text as F3. The manual lists them separately, and neither is related to F6, which concerns water confirmation for the heater.

Why are there both F3 and F8?
The manual lists both with the same screen text and similar causes. It does not explain why.
Does closing the door clear F8?
It can, if an open door was stopping the fill. If the door was already closed, the switch or fill parts are the next suspects.
Can I fill the tank by hand?
We do not advise it; the machine's own fill circuit has to work for the cycle to run properly.
