MEIKO Commercial Dishwasher Error Code ERR 210: Boiler Sensor Short Circuit

ERR 210 on the UPster U 400 M2 display reads Boiler temperature sensor short-circuit. The manual lists a defective sensor or an incorrect sensor position as causes, and says it is not possible to continue working.

Medium · inspection needed

High: the control cannot read boiler temperature, so the machine stops until the sensor is repaired.

What does MEIKO error code ERR 210 mean?

The boiler temperature sensor changes its electrical value as the water temperature changes, and the control reads that value to decide when to heat. If the reading falls to what a shorted circuit would give, the control cannot know the true boiler temperature, so it shows ERR 210, Boiler temperature sensor short-circuit, and stops. The manual lists two causes: a defective sensor, or a sensor that is not positioned correctly. It states that it is not possible to continue working and that a service technician should be called. A short reading is different from an open one, which is covered by ERR 211: here the circuit looks closed. Because heating without a valid reading is unsafe, the machine stays stopped. The display reads Boiler temperature sensor short-circuit.

Affected models and control systems

This code is listed for the Meiko UPster U 400 M2 glass and dishwasher, type M001DWUC10M2-10, in section 9.6.1 Messages (the ERR table on printed pp. 34-35).

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • ERR 210 with the text Boiler temperature sensor short-circuit
  • Machine stopped and will not heat or run
  • Boiler water not being heated

Possible causes

Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code ERR 210 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • Sensor defective
  • Sensor position not correct
  • Sensor wire insulation chafed against metal, shorting the lead
  • Moisture inside the sensor connector
  • Sensor knocked out of its seat during cleaning or earlier service

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Switch the machine off at its switch and on again once to see whether the reading recovers.
  2. Do not keep restarting the machine.
  3. Do not open panels or touch the sensor; leave its position as it is.
  4. Note when ERR 210 appeared, whether the machine had just been cleaned or moved, and anything seen on the floor, for the service call.

How a technician diagnoses error code ERR 210

  1. Read the history and confirm ERR 210.
  2. Measure the sensor resistance with the sensor disconnected and compare it with the specification at the current water temperature.
  3. Inspect the sensor lead and connector for chafing, moisture or damage.
  4. Check the sensor sits correctly in its pocket.
  5. Replace the sensor or lead if it fails, reseat it, and run a heat-up test.
! Leave this to a technician
  • Sensor testing means opening the machine to reach wiring that is live 208-240 V nearby.
  • Moving or reseating the sensor inside a boiler can release hot water.
  • Correct sensor position and a verified reading are needed before the heater is allowed to run.
