What does Henny Penny error code E-20D mean?
On a gas fryer the controller sends the start signal, the modules respond, and the burner is expected to light. In E-20D the modules are working but the burner does not ignite, and the controller shows E-20D. The manual gives only that meaning and the same short action as E-20C: press the timer button to retry ignition, and if it persists, call the Service Department. The modules are not blamed, so the problem lies downstream: gas not reaching the burner, no spark, or a burner that does not catch. A retry may work if the first failure was a brief one, such as air in the gas line after a long idle period. Repeated failures need a gas technician. Cooks see the fryer click or run through its start sequence and then stop without heat. A technician follows the gas from the supply valve to the burner and checks the spark in the same order, so the part that fails the test, and not the one that is merely next to it, is the part that gets replaced.
