Convotherm Combi Oven Error Code E14.0: Bypass Sensor High
E14.0 on the older Convotherm OES, OEB, OGS and OGB ovens means the bypass sensor is reading too high a temperature. Check the water supply first, and if the code stays, contact customer service.
Medium: steam stops, but a shut water tap is a simple cause.

What does Convotherm error code E14.0 mean?
Among the temperature sensors in the steam system is a bypass sensor, and the control compares its reading with a limit. When the reading runs too high, the control stops the steam function and shows E14.0. The manual does not describe the bypass path in detail, but its response gives the clue: check the water supply. A sensor that reads hot in a water-cooled part of the system usually means the cooling or feed water is not arriving as it should, so the part runs hotter than normal. Opening the tap, checking for a kinked hose, and looking at supply pressure are the operator checks. If water is clearly arriving and the code returns, either a valve is not passing water or the sensor itself reads wrongly, and a technician has to test both.
Affected models and control systems
Convotherm OES, OEB, OGS and OGB, the combi ovens that preceded the C4. The code comes from the line's translated user manual, and no edition number is shown in it.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- E14.0 on the display
- Steam functions stop
- Quiet water inlet valve when steam is requested
- Water supply tap found partly closed
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E14.0 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Water tap partly closed after cleaning
- Low supply pressure reducing flow through the bypass
- Inlet screen blocked with scale
- Bypass sensor reading falsely high
Safe checks before calling for service
- Check that the water supply tap to the oven is fully open.
- Look for a kinked or crushed hose behind the oven.
- Restart and start a steam program.
- If E14.0 returns, contact customer service.
- Report whether other water-using equipment on the line has low pressure.
How a technician diagnoses error code E14.0
- Read E14.0 and history.
- Verify water flow and pressure at the oven.
- Check the inlet screen and valve.
- Compare the bypass sensor reading with a reference thermometer.
- Check sensor wiring.
- Replace the valve or sensor based on the test.
- Valve coils and sensors connect to the main board at line voltage.
- Flow problems inside the steam system need the panels removed and the oven running.
- A false reading and a real water shortage look the same without measurements.
How error code E14.0 differs from similar codes
E24.0 and E24.1 are the matching codes for the bypass sensor circuit being disconnected or having a ground fault.

Is E14.0 a broken sensor?
The manual's first step is the water supply, so a water problem is more likely than a broken sensor.
Can I keep using dry heat?
Often yes, but steam is off until the code clears.
Is E14.0 the same as E15.0?
No. E15.0 is the condenser sensor reading too high.
