What does Merrychef error code E095 mean?

This is the second half of the filter test in the recommission routine. The oven asks for the filter to be taken out and expects the filter microswitch to open when the magnet moves away. If 10 seconds go by and the circuit is still closed, the oven records E095: Recommission Fail Filter Removal. A closed circuit with the filter gone suggests the oven still believes the filter is there. A switch that stays closed, a magnet left behind, or a short in the wiring to the SRB input would all look like that. A person who simply did not take the filter out in time would get the same result. The manual gives no list of causes and only says to check the filter microswitch and the connections. The reason it matters in daily use is the filter's job: it protects the cooling air path, so a switch that cannot tell present from absent weakens that safeguard.

Affected models and control systems

Merrychef eikon e2s with the QTS touch screen and SRB relay board controller. Taken from the e2s service manual's recommission list.

What you may notice

  • E095 recommission fail on the filter removal step
  • Oven still treats the filter as present after it is pulled out
  • Step ends after 10 seconds with no change

Possible causes

Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E095 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • Switch contact that stays closed after the magnet moves away
  • A magnet or metal fragment left near the switch
  • Wiring to the switch shorted at the SRB input
  • Filter not actually removed during the step

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Repeat the removal step and make sure the filter is fully out within 10 seconds.
  2. Check the filter seat for a loose magnet or metal debris.
  3. Refit the filter afterward and see that the oven accepts it.
  4. Tell us if E094 showed in the same test.

How a technician diagnoses error code E095

  1. Read the recommission result and timing for the removal step.
  2. Check the filter magnet and the area around the microswitch for stray metal.
  3. Test the switch for continuity with the filter in and out.
  4. Check the wire and connector between the switch and the SRB for a short.
  5. Replace the switch or repair the wiring, then rerun the test.
! Leave this to a technician
  • The switch circuit connects to the SRB inside the cabinet, so inspecting it means opening the oven.
  • Telling a stuck switch from a shorted wire takes continuity measurements.

How error code E095 differs from similar codes

E095 is the removal step of the filter test, the mirror of E094, which fails when the switch never closes.
