Merrychef High-Speed Oven Error Code E092: Recommission Heater
E092 is a recommission test result, reported as E116: Heater Failed. During the test the heater drew under 1 A. The manual sends you to E116 for the checks, ending with replacing the SRB.
High: the heater draws too little current, so the oven cannot heat as intended.

What does Merrychef error code E092 mean?
The recommission test checks the heater by looking at how much current it draws when asked to heat. If the draw is under 1 A, the oven records E092, and the display text reads E092 (reported as E116: Heater Failed). The manual does not give E092 its own procedure, because it is the same condition as E116, where the oven asked for heat and the circuit carried too little current. The E116 steps work from the supply inward. The technician checks the connections from the supply through the filter and fuse F1, then into the SRB and on to the heating element. The manual notes that the element itself rarely fails, so loose connections are the likelier find. When tightening the element's front nut, the rear bolt must be held. Replacing the SRB is the last step, after those connections have been proven.
Affected models and control systems
Merrychef eikon e2s with the QTS touch screen and SRB relay board controller. Confirmed in the e2s service manual's recommission test list.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- E092 shown during the recommission test, reported as E116
- No heat or very slow heat-up in the cavity
- Heater step failing while other test steps pass
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E092 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Loose connection between the supply filter, fuse F1 and the SRB
- An open fuse F1
- A loose terminal at the heating element
- An SRB output that does not switch the heater
Safe checks before calling for service
- Switch the oven off and on once and repeat the recommission test.
- Note whether the oven heats at all during normal cooking.
- Write down whether E116 also appears in the event log.
- Leave the cabinet closed; the heater circuit is live mains wiring.
How a technician diagnoses error code E092
- Read the log and confirm E092 is paired with E116.
- Check the supply, filter and fuse F1 for continuity with the oven isolated.
- Inspect the connections at the SRB and at the heating element, holding the rear bolt when tightening the front nut.
- Measure the element resistance to confirm it is intact.
- Replace the SRB last, then rerun the recommission test.
- The heater is fed by mains-voltage wiring and a fuse inside the cabinet.
- Isolating the oven, testing continuity and re-torquing element terminals correctly is a technician job.
How error code E092 differs from similar codes
E092 is the recommission form of E116 (heater off when requested), and is not E102, which is the heater on without request.

Is E092 different from E116?
They describe the same condition. E092 appears during the recommission test and points you to the E116 checks.
Is the heating element probably burned out?
The manual notes the element rarely fails. Loose connections and the fuse are checked first.
Can the oven be used with E092?
It may not heat properly. Fix the heater circuit before regular cooking.
