Bloomfield Coffee Brewer Error: Keyswitch Locked
Keyswitch Locked means a keypad switch has been held down for 10 seconds. Release the stuck switch, then reset by holding CANCEL for 3 seconds or re-energizing the brewer.
Low: usually a pressed key; the brewer works again after a reset.

What does Bloomfield Keyswitch Locked mean?
The controller watches the keypad for a button that stays pressed. If one is held for 10 seconds, it treats the keypad as stuck, because a held switch might be asking for something the brewer should not do. It turns off all valves and elements, alternates the lights and shows Keyswitch Locked. The manual lists two causes: a key held down for more than 10 seconds, or a defective keypad switch. The first is common, for example when a rag, tray or elbow leans on the panel. The second is the one to suspect if the message comes back after you release everything and reset. The remedy is to release the stuck switch and reset by holding CANCEL for 3 seconds or re-energizing the brewer. If it recurs with nothing touching the keypad, the manual says the keypad switch is likely defective. This is the one brewer message an operator can usually clear alone.

Possible causes
Listed in Bloomfield's documentation
- Key held down more than 10 seconds
- Defective keypad switch
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind Keyswitch Locked on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Moisture or sticky residue under the keypad overlay holding one switch closed
- A swollen or damaged keypad overlay pressing a switch
Safe checks before calling for service
- Look at the keypad and remove anything resting on it.
- Release all keys, then hold CANCEL for 3 seconds, or cut power for 5 seconds.
- Wipe the keypad with a lightly damp cloth, never a hose.
- If Keyswitch Locked returns with nothing touching the keys, note which key seems sticky and call.
How a technician diagnoses Keyswitch Locked
- Read the display and ask what was near the keypad.
- Inspect the keypad overlay for damage, swelling or moisture.
- Check the keypad connector and ribbon at the control board.
- Test each switch for continuity when pressed and released.
- Replace the keypad when a switch stays closed.
- Water behind the keypad can damage the control board.
- Keypad connectors sit beside live control wiring.
- Telling a stuck switch from a board problem needs a meter.
How Keyswitch Locked differs from similar codes
Unlike the water and heater messages, Keyswitch Locked comes from the keypad, not from the tank or the element.
