Dexter Washer Error Code F1: Door Lock Alarm

F1 means the door failed to close and lock, or failed to stay locked during the cycle. Make sure the door is shut properly and try again. If F1 returns, a technician checks the door solenoid, switches, wiring and lock adjustment.

What does Dexter error code F1 mean?

Before it runs, the washer asks the door lock to engage and watches the switches that confirm the door is closed and locked. If the door does not lock, or if the lock is lost during the cycle, the control shows F1 and stops. The manual's checks begin with the drive code, which should be read before power is turned off. Then listen for the door solenoid when the lock is commanded, check the wiring to the door and lock switches and to the controller, check the P-4 connection at the PCB, and adjust the door lock mechanism. The cause is left to the checks, since none is named. A lock that is slightly out of adjustment may engage on some days and not on others, which makes the alarm look intermittent. The door lock is a safety device that keeps the door shut during spin, and no one should bypass it.
