Dexter Washer Error Codes F10 and F11: Spin Stop and Drive Size

F10 means the tub did not stop within 150 seconds after a spin. F11 means the drive size setting has changed. Read the drive code before power off, and have a technician check the braking resistors for F10 or the drive and harnesses for F11.

Medium · inspection needed

High: a tub that fails to stop is a safety issue, and a wrong drive size prevents running.

What does Dexter error code F10-F11 mean?

These two codes share a row in the WCD table. F10 is about stopping: after a spin the control expects the tub to come to rest, and if it is still turning after 150 seconds, it flags the problem. The drive brakes the motor with a braking resistor, so the checks are to inspect and measure the braking resistors, check the wiring from the resistor to the drive, reset the drive, and consider that the drive may be incorrectly programmed. F11 is about identity: the drive size setting has changed, which means the horsepower the control expects no longer matches. The checks are all harnesses to the controller, that the drive horsepower matches the washer size, and that the PCB controller or the drive may need replacing, with a soft reset before and after a drive replacement. The causes it lists are a bad braking resistor or wiring for F10, and a wrong drive size or harness for F11.

Affected models and control systems

Dexter T-450 SWD Express stack washer-dryers, serial 481983 and up. The same F10 to F21 table appears in the WCAD-Series vended washers manual (8533-073-001, 11/11). Older Dexter washers number their drive codes differently.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • F10 or F11 on the display
  • Tub still turning long after a spin ends (F10)
  • Washer will not start after a board or drive change (F11)

Possible causes

Listed in Dexter's documentation

  • Bad braking resistor or wiring (F10)
  • Wrong drive size or harness (F11)

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code F10-F11 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • Braking resistor open or wire loose at the drive
  • Controller harness plug partly out
  • Replacement drive with a different horsepower than the washer

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Switch the washer off and let the tub come to a stop on its own.
  2. Do not try to stop the tub by hand.
  3. Note whether the code is F10 or F11, and whether a part was replaced recently.
  4. Call for service.

How a technician diagnoses error code F10-F11

  1. Read the VFD code before power off.
  2. For F10, inspect and measure the braking resistors and check the wiring to the drive.
  3. Reset the drive and check that it is programmed correctly.
  4. For F11, check all harnesses to the controller and that drive horsepower matches the washer size.
  5. Do a soft reset before and after a drive replacement.
! Leave this to a technician
  • A spinning tub that does not stop is a serious injury hazard.
  • Braking resistors run hot and carry stored energy.
  • Drive programming and soft resets need the maker's procedure.

How error code F10-F11 differs from similar codes

Dexter F-code generation only. The Common Washer guide, which labels alarms such as DRIVE OC and DRIVE OV, uses F6 for drive size mismatch, F9 for spin stop and F21 for an internal drive error.
