What does Henny Penny error code E-20C mean?
A gas fryer lights its burner through an ignition module, which times the gas, creates the spark and watches for flame. When the controller finds that the module has failed, it shows E-20C. The manual says only that the ignition module has failed, with a short action: press the timer button to retry ignition, and if it persists, call the Service Department. A retry helps only if the failure was brief. A module that has really failed will not light the burner at all, and repeated attempts will not change that. Do not keep trying, since each attempt runs gas through the system. Compare E-20D, where the modules work but ignition does not happen, and E-20A and E-20B, which concern the draft fan and air pressure switch. Cooks see the fryer fail to light and the message appear after the attempt. A technician checks the supply to the module and its wiring before replacing it, because a module that is simply not powered looks just like one that has failed, and the difference is a wire rather than a part.
