Meiko Commercial Dishwasher Error Code 601: Converter Undervoltage
Message 601 on a Meiko M-iClean U reports a power supply problem at the frequency converter, an undervoltage. Do not interrupt the power while the converter is on; let the cycle end and switch off with the machine's own key. If 601 returns, call us and leave the panels closed.
High: a power supply problem at the pump drive that can stop the machine and damage it if repeated.

What does MEIKO error code 601 mean?
The wash pump on the M-iClean U is driven by a frequency converter, an electronic drive that varies the pump speed. That drive needs a steady supply voltage, and the control monitors what reaches it. Message 601 means the converter has seen undervoltage, a supply lower than it can work with. The control stops trusting the drive and posts the message on the color display. The manual gives the operator one instruction: do not interrupt the power supply while the converter is on. Cutting power at the wall or breaker during a cycle can itself trigger this kind of report, because the drive is shut down in the middle of its work. Other causes sit in the building: a breaker or wiring that lets the voltage sag when the machine pulls current, or other heavy equipment on the same circuit. If the voltage is fine and the message keeps coming, the converter itself is the suspect. Because this is a power electronics problem, the machine should not be run repeatedly through the message.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to the Meiko M-iClean U undercounter dishwasher, from the red and gray messages in its operating instructions. Other Meiko ranges number their messages differently.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Message 601 on the display
- Wash pump stopping or not starting
- A cycle that ends early after a power flicker
- Lights or other kitchen equipment dimming when the machine starts
Possible causes
Listed in MEIKO's documentation
- Supply voltage reaching the machine
- Breaker or wiring that causes voltage to dip
- Power interrupted while the converter was on
- Frequency converter itself
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code 601 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A shared circuit where a compressor or oven starts at the same moment as the wash pump
- A loose breaker lug or worn receptacle that drops voltage under load
Safe checks before calling for service
- Do not interrupt the power supply while the frequency converter is on, as the maker says.
- Let the cycle end and switch the machine off with its own key.
- Ask building maintenance whether power to the kitchen has been unstable or other equipment shares the circuit.
- If 601 returns, write down the time and what else was running, then call us. Do not open panels or touch wiring.
How a technician diagnoses error code 601
- Read the message and any history of earlier voltage events.
- Measure supply voltage at the machine, idle and during a pump start.
- Check the breaker, terminals and feed wiring for heat or looseness.
- Check that the phases are balanced and the voltage matches the rating plate.
- Test the converter only when supply is proven good.
- Replace the converter only after the supply is ruled out.
- Measuring supply voltage means working on live 208-240 V wiring, which is a licensed electrician's job.
- The frequency converter holds stored charge even after the machine is switched off.
- Telling a weak building supply from a failing converter needs readings taken under load.
How error code 601 differs from similar codes
Messages 610 and 611 concern the same converter running too warm, while 601 is about the voltage reaching it.

Can I keep running the machine with 601?
It is better not to. Repeated undervoltage can harm the converter, so use the machine only after the supply has been checked.
Will 601 clear itself?
It may after a clean restart if the dip was a one-time event.
Is it safe to cut power at the breaker to reset it?
Not while the converter is on. Let the cycle finish and use the machine's own key.
