What does Merrychef error code E099 mean?
The eikon watches a microswitch at the front air filter. When the filter is out, the switch is open and the oven warns the operator. If the operator chooses to carry on regardless, the oven records E099: FILTER OVERRIDE. The warning exists because the front filter keeps grease and dirt out of the cooling air path, and an oven run without it can overheat the control boards, which is what E103 reports. The manual's actions follow from that. Check that the filter magnets are present and positioned against the switch, check the microswitch and its connections, and clean or replace the filter. If the filter is in place and the oven still shows the warning, the switch is not seeing the magnet. If it appears because the filter was out, the fix is the filter itself. Repeating overrides also raise the chance of E103 and E104 later.

- Filter fitted but its magnet is missing, so the switch never closes
- Filter too clogged with grease and removed repeatedly for cleaning
- Microswitch wiring loose at the SRB
Safe checks before calling for service
- Check that the front filter is in place and seated flat.
- Clean the filter following the maker's cleaning guidance, or fit a replacement if it is damaged.
- Look for the magnet on the filter and make sure it has not fallen off.
- Do not run the oven without the filter; note how often the warning appears.
How a technician diagnoses error code E099
- Read the log for E099 together with any E103 or E104 entries.
- Check the filter magnets and their position against the microswitch.
- Test the switch for continuity with the filter fitted and removed.
- Inspect the wiring and connector to the SRB.
- Replace the switch, magnet or filter as the tests show, then confirm the warning no longer shows.
- The filter switch wires to the SRB inside the cabinet near mains-voltage parts.
- Judging whether overrides have already overheated the boards needs the log and board temperature history.
How error code E099 differs from similar codes
E099 is the operator override warning; E094 and E095 are the recommission test results for the same filter switch.

Is it safe to press continue when E099 appears?
The filter protects the cooling path. Running without it risks overheating, so fit the filter first.
The filter is in but E099 shows. Why?
The switch is not seeing the magnet. Check the magnet and the microswitch with a technician.
Does E099 mean the oven is broken?
No. It records that the operator carried on without a detected filter. Cleaning or replacing the filter usually resolves it.
