Merrychef High-Speed Oven Error Code E108: QTS PM Failed
E108 means the personality module (PM) code is incorrect for the QTS touch screen board. The manual says to check that the PM chip is in place on the QTS and is the correct part for the model, and to transfer the PM when replacing the board.
High: the touch screen board does not accept its model code, so the oven may not run.

What does Merrychef error code E108 mean?
The personality module, or PM, is a small chip that tells the control board which oven model it is running in. The QTS reads it at start-up and compares the code to what it expects. If the code is wrong, the oven records E108: QTS PM FAILED. The usual cause is a board change. A replacement QTS comes without the original chip's settings, or the chip from another model is fitted, so the board believes it belongs to a different oven. The manual's fix is practical. Check the chip is present and seated, check that it is the correct part for this model, and move the PM from the old board to the new one whenever the QTS is replaced. The matching code for the relay board is E109, which refers to the PM on the SRB.
Affected models and control systems
Merrychef eikon e2s whose QTS touch screen board carries a personality module chip. Confirmed in the e2s service manual.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E108 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

- PM chip from a different model fitted
- PM chip not fully seated in its socket
Safe checks before calling for service
- Note whether a screen or board was replaced recently.
- Switch the oven off and on once to see whether E108 returns.
- Do not swap boards between ovens yourself.
- Tell us the oven model and serial number for the call.
How a technician diagnoses error code E108
- Read the code and confirm E108 versus E109.
- Inspect the PM chip on the QTS for presence, orientation and correct part number for the model.
- Reseat the chip with the oven isolated.
- If the board was replaced, transfer the PM from the old board.
- Load current firmware and confirm start-up without the error.
- The QTS sits inside the cabinet and handling it risks static damage and contact with mains-voltage parts.
- Matching the PM to the oven model needs the maker's parts lists.
How error code E108 differs from similar codes
E108 concerns the PM on the QTS board and E109 the PM on the SRB; E110 is a firmware mismatch between the two.

What is a PM?
A personality module is a chip that carries the oven model identity for a control board.
Why did E108 appear after a board change?
The new board needs the original PM transferred, or the correct one for the model.
Can a firmware update fix E108?
