XLT Pizza Oven Error Code EEPROM Error: Bad Checksum
EEPROM Error means the controller found a bad checksum in its stored memory. The manual's step is a hard reset: unplug the oven for one minute, plug it back in and power on. If the error still exists, contact XLT.
High: the controller's stored data failed its own check and the oven may not run reliably.

What does XLT EEPROM Error mean?
The EEPROM is the controller's permanent memory, where settings are kept when the power is off. A checksum is a number the controller works out from the stored data and compares with a saved copy. When they do not match, the data may be damaged, and the controller shows EEPROM Error on the LUI. The control board LEDs show the Alarm LED flashing with all other LEDs off. The manual defines the alarm with two words, bad checksum, and does not list causes. Its action is the hard reset, then a call to XLT at 888-443-2751 if the error remains. Since the stored settings may be affected, a restart may bring back factory values or require the settings to be entered again. That is why a technician who has the oven's own settings should be involved if the alarm will not clear.
Affected models and control systems
XLT conveyor ovens, gas version H (Standard, World, Australia, Korea) with the LUI/OMC controller. The electric version H Parts & Service Manual XD 9007A prints the same table.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- EEPROM Error alarm on the LUI display
- Alarm LED flashing and all other LEDs off
- Settings such as bake time or temperature not as you left them
- Oven refusing to start a bake
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind EEPROM Error on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Memory data corrupted by a power interruption while settings were being saved
- Memory chip on the board worn or damaged
- Electrical noise or a surge reaching the control board
- Failed control board
Safe checks before calling for service
- Switch off the oven and unplug it for one minute, as the manual's hard reset describes.
- Plug the oven back in, power on and read the LUI for the error.
- If the oven starts, check that your bake time and temperature settings are still what you expect.
- If EEPROM Error returns, contact XLT or a service company.
- Tell the technician about any recent power outage or surge and any settings that changed.
How a technician diagnoses EEPROM Error
- Read the alarm and LED pattern and confirm the EEPROM Error.
- Check the supply to the board for stability and any signs of surge damage.
- Cycle power and observe whether the error returns.
- Check the stored settings against the oven's configuration and restore them if the board accepts them.
- Replace the board only if the error persists, then load the correct settings.
- Restoring settings uses the oven's own configuration data, which needs the service manual.
- Board checks are made in a live 208-240 V enclosure.
- A bad checksum may mean a failed board that has to be ordered and programmed to match the oven.

What is a bad checksum?
It means the stored data did not match the controller's own check number, so the data may be damaged.
Will my settings be lost?
They may be changed. After a restart, compare bake time and temperature with what you expect.
Does the hard reset always clear EEPROM Error?
The manual lists it as the step. If the memory is damaged, the error returns.
