XLT Pizza Oven Error Code Over Temp: 50F Above Set Point
Over Temp means the oven has been 50F (10C) over its set point for more than one minute. Lowering the set point inhibits the alarm until the oven reaches the new set point. The manual's step is a hard reset, then contact XLT if the error stays.
High: the oven is running well above its set point and may overheat product or parts.

What does XLT Over Temp mean?
The XLT controller compares the oven's actual temperature with the set point you entered. If the actual temperature stays 50F (10C) above the set point for more than one minute, it displays Over Temp on the LUI and flashes the HEAT LED with the Alarm LED lit. The manual adds a helpful detail: when you lower the set point on purpose, the alarm is inhibited until the new, lower set point has been reached, so a normal temperature change does not trigger a false alarm. That tells you the controller is watching for heat that goes past the target, not for the heat itself. The manual lists no causes for Over Temp. Its action is the hard reset, with a call to XLT at 888-443-2751 if the error is still present. A reading that is truly too high or a probe reading that is wrong can both lead here, and only testing shows which.

What you may notice
- Over Temp alarm on the LUI display
- HEAT LED flashing with Alarm LED on
- Pizza browning faster than usual
- Oven running hotter than the set point
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind Over Temp on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Oven probe reading lower than the real temperature, so the burner keeps firing
- Burner control not shutting off when the set point is reached
- Set point recently lowered and the oven still cooling toward it
Safe checks before calling for service
- Check the set point on the LUI and note whether you recently lowered it.
- Give the oven a few minutes, since lowering the set point holds the alarm until the new value is reached.
- If the alarm remains, do the hard reset: unplug the oven for one minute, plug in, power on.
- If Over Temp returns, stop baking and contact XLT or a service company.
- Write down the set point, the temperature shown, and how long the oven had been running.
How a technician diagnoses Over Temp
- Read the alarm and compare the displayed temperature with an independent oven thermometer.
- Check the oven probe reading and wiring for accuracy.
- Check whether the burner shuts off when the set point is reached.
- Check the gas valve and control output for sticking operation.
- Repair the cause, then run the oven up to temperature and confirm it holds the set point.
- Checking gas valve operation on a hot oven is gas-appliance work for a trained technician.
- An oven running well past its set point is a heat hazard that should not be tested in service by an operator.
- Confirming the probe reading takes a meter and a reference thermometer.
How Over Temp differs from similar codes
Hi Alarm also reports excess heat, but it is tied to the Hi Alarm set point rather than to the 50F margin over the baking set point.

Will Over Temp clear when I lower the set point?
The manual says lowering the set point inhibits the alarm until the oven reaches the new set point.
Is Over Temp dangerous?
The oven is hotter than intended, so avoid baking and let it cool. Contact a service company if it returns.
Is Over Temp the same as Hi Alarm?
They are separate alarms in the manual. Over Temp uses 50F over set point for a minute; Hi Alarm uses its own set point.
