What does Eversys error code S-017 mean?

The Cameo keeps a cleaning interval, and when it is reached the control blocks coffee products until the cleaning cycle has been run. The display shows S-017 as the request. It is the machine asking for its regular cleaning, not a report of damage. According to the owner's guide, the cleaning is started by pressing and holding the rinse key for three seconds. The cycle uses a cleaning ball from the dispenser, which a light barrier counts, so the dispenser needs balls in it before the cycle begins. The cleaning also needs water, so a closed tap or weak supply during the cycle can stop it before it finishes, and an interrupted cleaning does not clear the message. Because the message is a scheduled prompt, most of the work is in making sure the cleaning completes without interruption. If a cleaning finishes and S-017 comes right back, the control may not be counting the cycle, and the dispenser is often involved. A technician checks the cycle and the dispenser together.
