IPSO Washer-Extractor Error Code E Pr: Low Level Pressure Switch
E Pr on an IPSO CHM495R washer-extractor is a low level pressure switch error that belongs to the production test cycle. Shut the machine off to clear it, confirm a normal cycle is selected, and tell us if it shows up on a normal cycle.
Low: the check belongs to the test cycle and clears when power is removed.
What does IPSO error code E Pr mean?
The control reads a low level pressure switch to know that water has begun to rise in the tub. In the production test cycle, which the factory uses to check a new machine, the control checks the switch after the first fill step. If the switch is not in the position expected, the control shows E Pr. Operators rarely see it, since the check belongs to the test cycle and not to normal laundry. Powering down clears it, the manual says. A test cycle left running by mistake is one source. If it appears on a normal cycle, the pressure switch may be sitting in the wrong position after fill because its air tube is pinched, or because the switch or its wire is damaged. Those are the places a technician looks. The message by itself says nothing about the water supply or the drain, and the usual fill and drain checks do not apply.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to IPSO washer-extractors in the CHM495R family, 20 to 100 lb, with the front-end control in that programming manual.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- E Pr appears after the first fill during a test cycle
- The code shows on a normal cycle, which is unusual
- The machine otherwise behaves normally
Possible causes
Listed in IPSO's documentation
- Low level pressure switch in the wrong position after fill
- Pinched air tube or damaged switch wire
- Production test cycle left running by mistake
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E Pr on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- An air tube kinked when the machine was moved or serviced
- A switch contact that sticks because of moisture in the tube
Safe checks before calling for service
- Shut the machine off to clear the message, as the manual says.
- Confirm that a normal cycle is selected and not a test cycle.
- Do not open the control to look at the switch.
- Tell us if the code shows up during a normal cycle, and which cycle it was.
How a technician diagnoses error code E Pr
- Read the code and check whether the test cycle was selected.
- If it appears on a normal cycle, inspect the pressure switch air tube for a pinch, a kink or water inside.
- With the power locked off, check the switch wiring and connector.
- Test the switch position at empty and after fill with a meter.
- Replace the switch or tube only after the readings show it is wrong.
- The pressure switch and its tube are inside the cabinet near live wiring.
- Reading the switch state through a fill needs a meter on the control's input.
- The production test cycle is meant for factory checks, and running it on a customer's machine can change how it behaves.
How error code E Pr differs from similar codes
E Pr concerns the low level pressure switch in the test cycle. E FL is a fill that never reaches level in a normal cycle.

Related IPSO washer error codes
What is the production test cycle?
It is a check used when a machine is tested, and the control looks at the switch after the first fill.
Does E Pr stop normal laundry?
Not in a normal cycle unless the switch itself misbehaves.
Will powering down clear it?
Yes, the manual says so.
