IPSO Washer Error Code Ed02: DC Bus Voltage Too High
Ed02 on an IPSO CHM495R washer-extractor means the DC bus inside the motor drive climbed too high and the drive stopped the motor. Turn the machine off at the disconnect and have the line voltage verified before powering up. A repeat is a service call.
High: the drive stops the motor and the machine will not run until the cause is found.
What does IPSO error code Ed02 mean?
Inside the motor drive, incoming AC power is converted to a DC bus that feeds the motor. That bus has an upper limit. When the motor slows after a spin, it behaves like a generator and pushes energy back into the drive, and if the line voltage is already high, the bus can climb past the limit. The drive watches the bus constantly. The moment it crosses the threshold, the drive switches off the motor output to protect itself and the control posts Ed02. Operators see the machine halt during or just after a spin. The manual lists three steps: power down, verify line voltage, power up. High line voltage or surges from other equipment on the circuit come first, with the drive's bus circuit next. Measuring supply voltage is not an owner task, so the practical move is to isolate the machine and arrange a proper check.
Affected models and control systems
The CHM495R family of washer-extractors, 20 to 100 lb, with the front-end control.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Machine stops during or right after a spin
- Ed02 on the display
- Drum coasts to a halt instead of braking smoothly
- Error appears more often when other equipment is running
Possible causes
Listed in IPSO's documentation
- Line voltage at the machine
- Surges from other equipment on the circuit
- The drive's bus circuit
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code Ed02 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A utility supply that runs high at certain hours
- A large motor switching off on the same feeder and causing a spike
- A drive that no longer manages braking energy
- A failing capacitor in the drive bus
Safe checks before calling for service
- Turn the machine off at the disconnect switch.
- Ask us or an electrician to verify the line voltage; it is not an owner measurement.
- Power up again after that check.
- Note the time of day and what else was running when Ed02 appeared.
How a technician diagnoses error code Ed02
- Read the code history and note how often Ed02 appears and at which cycle step.
- Measure line voltage at the machine terminals, at rest and during a spin, against the nameplate.
- Check for voltage spikes from other loads on the feeder.
- Inspect the drive's bus circuit and braking path for damage or heat marks.
- Replace drive parts only after supply tests are within range.
- Measuring line voltage means working at live 208-240 V terminals. A DC bus stores charge even after power is off, which is a shock risk. Supply problems can also point to building wiring that needs an electrician.

Related IPSO washer error codes
Can I keep running the washer after Ed02?
Not until the supply is checked. Repeated high-voltage events can damage the drive.
Why does it happen after the spin?
Slowing the heavy drum returns energy to the drive, which raises the bus voltage.
Is Ed10 related?
It is the opposite case, a low bus, and the manual says the cycle simply continues.
