Cissell OPL Dryer Error Code EI09: Infrared CRC-16 Error
EI09 is a CRC-16 error on the infrared link, which means the control found that a check number sent with a message did not match the data it received. The message was garbled in transit and the exchange was thrown out. Switch the dryer off at the disconnect, wait a minute, switch it back on, and note which device was in use.
Low: a data link message; drying is not affected.
What does Cissell error code EI09 mean?
A CRC is a check number. The sender works it out from the data and attaches it to every message. The receiver, in this case the OPL control on a Cissell dryer such as the CT030N, works it out again from what arrived and compares. If the two numbers differ, some part of the message changed on the way, so the control cannot trust any of it and shows EI09. Garbled messages happen when the infrared beam is disturbed: bright light or interference, a dirty infrared window, a device that was moved in the middle of sending, or a failing transmitter or receiver. Wiring and power quality at the control can also disturb the receiving circuit. The dryer is not harmed, and the heat and drum drive are unaffected. The message tells you that the data link is poor, not that the dryer is broken. A repeat from the same device points to that device, a repeat from several points to the dryer.

- Because drying is not affected, the visit can wait for a convenient time.
How error code EI09 differs from similar codes
EI05 means a value was out of range. EI0A is a framing error. EI09 specifically means the check number did not match.
