Cissell OPL Dryer Error Code EI0E: Infrared Encryption Error
EI0E is an infrared encryption error: the control could not decode a message the way it expects and refused it, which protects the dryer from commands not meant for it. Heat and drum drive are unaffected. Switch the dryer off at the disconnect, wait a minute, switch it back on, and note the device or software used.
Low: the message was refused safely; drying is not affected.
What does Cissell error code EI0E mean?
Messages that reach a Cissell OPL dryer such as the CU030E over infrared are protected by encoding, so that only a matching device or program can change the dryer's settings. When a message arrives, the control tries to decode it with its own key. If the result does not make sense, because the sender uses a different key, an older version of the software, or because the message was damaged, the control refuses it and shows EI0E. The result is that the dryer ignores the message, which protects it from commands that are not meant for it. The heat, the drum drive and the airflow are not involved, and the message shows up only when data is being exchanged. The things to check are the device or software being used, whether it matches the dryer's setup, the quality of the link and the control's memory. A matching device usually succeeds on the second try after a reset.
Affected models and control systems
This page covers the Cissell OPL electronic control tumble dryers, 25 to 35 lb C-prefix models such as the CU030E.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- EI0E appears after a device is used with the dryer
- The settings you sent are not accepted
- The dryer dries normally
Possible causes
Listed in Cissell's documentation
- A device or software that sends a message the control cannot decode
- A device that does not match the dryer's setup
- Poor infrared link quality
- A control memory problem
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code EI0E on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Programming software that is out of date compared with the dryer's control version
- A device meant for a different Cissell product line that uses another key
- A control whose memory was cleared during service, so the stored key no longer matches
Safe checks before calling for service
- Switch the dryer off at the disconnect, wait a minute and switch it back on.
- Note which device or tool was in use with the dryer when EI0E appeared.
- Clean the lint screen so the dryer is ready for normal use.
- If EI0E shows again, leave it and call us. Tell us the name and version of the software if you know it.
How a technician diagnoses error code EI0E
- Read the code and ask which device and software version were used.
- Check that the device is meant for this control.
- Try a second device or an updated version of the software.
- Check the control's stored setup and memory.
- Replace the control only if matching, current software is still rejected.
- The decoding key and software version are not visible on the dryer, so matching them takes a technician's tools.
- The control's memory is on the board behind the panel.
- Forcing settings through could change how the dryer runs.
How error code EI0E differs from similar codes
EI0E is a message that cannot be decoded. EI03 is a command for the wrong machine type, and EI05 is a value out of range.

Related Cissell dryer error codes
Is EI0E a security problem?
No. It is the dryer refusing a message it cannot decode, which is how it is meant to behave.
Why does my usual device give EI0E?
The software may be out of date or may have changed after a service. We check the match.
Does it affect drying?
No. Only the exchange of data is refused.
