EC:19 means that exchange is not working: the control cannot get an answer from the reader, or cannot understand it. The washer then will not accept payment, and the cycle does not start. The wash hardware may be fine; the payment link is what is missing. The manual lists a damaged cable between the reader and the MDC control, missing power at the card reader, a card reader worn out from years of use, and a failed MDC control board. These machines are older and many are still earning in busy laundries, so cable and connector wear is realistic after years of customers handling the reader.
