Speed Queen Washer Error Code Decimal Point: Network Link Lost

A lit decimal point at the far right of the display on a Quantum washer means the machine has lost its network connection. It can usually still wash. Wait about a minute and a half, and if the light stays, power the washer down and back up.

Medium · inspection needed

Low: a communication notice; the washer keeps washing.

What does Speed Queen Right-most decimal point lit mean?

On Quantum frontload and topload washers, the display normally shows only cycle or price information. When the control cannot hear the network it is connected to, it lights the decimal point at the right end of the display (shown as: Right-most decimal point lit). The check is simple: the washer expects to stay in contact with whatever sits on the other end of its network cable, such as an audit or remote-settings device in a laundromat, and when that contact drops it raises the light. It does not stop the wash. Customers can keep paying and washing, but sales reports and settings sent from the network may not reach this machine until the link returns. The manual says the light can clear by itself after roughly a minute and a half, which suggests the control keeps listening and recovers when the line comes back. If it does not clear, the manual's next step is to cycle the washer's power. A light that keeps returning points at the cable, a connector, the device at the other end, or the washer's own network input.

What you may notice

  • A small lit dot at the right end of the display
  • The washer still accepts coins and runs cycles
  • Audit or remote-setting changes do not show up from the network side

Possible causes

Listed in Speed Queen's documentation

  • Network cable or its connector has come loose or is damaged
  • The network device at the other end is off or not answering
  • The washer has not been power cycled since the link dropped

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind Right-most decimal point lit on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • A cable at the back of this washer was bumped when the machine was moved or cleaned behind
  • A power outage that restarted the network device but left this washer waiting

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Wait about a minute and a half and see whether the dot goes out.
  2. If it stays lit, switch the washer off at its power control and back on.
  3. Look at the network cable at the back from outside the cabinet and leave every panel closed.
  4. Note whether other washers on the same network show the dot too, and tell us when you call.

How a technician diagnoses Right-most decimal point lit

  1. Confirm the display reading and whether the light is steady or comes and goes.
  2. Check whether other machines on the same network are also reporting a lost link.
  3. Inspect the network cable and connector ends for damage and seating.
  4. Test the device at the far end for power and signal.
  5. Test the washer's network port only after the cable and far device are cleared.
! Leave this to a technician
  • Finding which end of a network run has failed takes test equipment and knowledge of how the laundry's network is arranged.
  • Reaching the washer's network input means opening the control area, which has live line voltage.

Right-most decimal point litQuestions about Speed Queen Right-most decimal point lit
Can customers keep using the washer with the dot lit?

Yes. The light reports a communication problem, not a wash problem, so cycles still run. Sales data may be incomplete until the link is back.

Will the dot go away on its own?

Sometimes. The manual allows about a minute and a half, and a power cycle often restores the link if the other device is working.

What if it keeps coming back after a restart?

Then the cable, the connector or the device at the other end needs testing, and we can trace that during a visit.
